San Diego Bay Parade of Lights Nominated Best Holiday Parade by USA TODAY

Parade of Lights Fans Urged to Vote Online

SAN DIEGO — USA TODAY 10Best editors have selected San Diego’s treasured San Diego Bay Parade of Lights as a contender for “Best Holiday Parade” in the U.S. It is one of just 20 parades nominated for the 2017 holiday season.

This year’s 46th annual parade is themed, “Arrgh! A Pirate’s Christmas,” and will have more than 80 lavishly decorated boats touring the Bayfront on the evenings of Dec. 10 and 17. With more than 100,000 residents and visitors in attendance each year, the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights has become one of the most iconic events in the region.

Individuals can cast their vote once a day now through Dec. 4 at http://www.10best.com/awards/travel/best-holiday-parade-2017/. The top 10 holiday parades will be announced Dec. 8.

“We are absolutely certain that the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is the most unique and enjoyable holiday parade in America,” said Larry Baumann, Parade of Lights chairman. “With the lights on the boats reflected on beautiful San Diego Bay and the downtown skyline as a backdrop, there isn’t a more stunning sight during the holidays.”

10Best is a division of USA TODAY that provides readers with original, unbiased and experiential travel content of top attractions, things to see and do, and restaurants in top destinations in the U.S. and around the world.
